IMPERIAL FENG SHUI ‘MASTERS’ QUALIFICATION

FROM 2007 ONWARDS

Grand Master Chan Kun Wah and the Imperial School of Feng Shui and Chinese Horoscopes are delighted to offer students the opportunity to sit the ‘Masters’ Examination. This examination will aim to test all the relevant skills needed to become an Imperial Feng Shui Master.

As there are many different specialities that encompass Imperial Feng Shui and all of them taking time to gain expertise in, Grand Master Chan has decided to highlight five different categories for his students to aim towards. These five categories will all be tested during the ‘Masters’ Examination.

Student will be able to choose which categories they wish to be examined in. This will entitle the student to the title of ‘Master’ where they can list their specific areas of Imperial Feng Shui expertise according to the categories that they passed their exams in. If, however, a student wishes to concentrate on maybe just one category that they wish to be examined in, that is possible too. If the student passes that category they are a ‘Master’ in that specific category only, for example Date Selection Master. The student can then build up their skills of expertise slowly by attending ‘Masters’ Examinations in subsequent years to gain further ‘Master’ qualifications.

The following questions and answers will highlight all the relevant information that any interested student will need to know.

Who is eligible?

All students must be graduates from any Imperial School of Feng Shui or accredited Imperial Feng Shui teacher using Grand Master Chan Kun Wah’s Chue Style Feng Shui teaching material. The student must have a Certificate of Practice and a Diploma for the 2-year Vocational Feng Shui Training Course from the Chue Foundation that has been approved and signed by Grand Master Chan Kun Wah.

Grand Master Chan Kun Wah or any of the accredited feng shui teachers must have taught these courses. The student will have received a certificate of attendance for each of these courses. Grand Master Chan believes that the students need to attend all these courses per category as a minimum requirement for being able to practice as a ‘Master’ in that category in the future.

Anyone that feels confident after completing the above courses may apply for one or all of the ‘Masters’ examination categories. There is no minimum number of years that you need to have studied imperial feng shui.

When are you able to sit the ‘Masters’ examination?

The first opportunity to take the Imperial Feng Shui Masters Examination is in 2007. There will be subsequent ‘Masters’ examinations in following years.

Where is the ‘Masters’ examination and how is it organised?

At this time the examination is planned to take place in Scotland. The aim is to set the ‘Masters’ Examination over the period of a few days per category to allow for revision and rest days. The external on-site examinations will require Grand Master Chan’s presence. He will examine students individually. The written examinations and the consultation will be invigilated and do not require Master Chan’s presence.

How much does the ‘Masters’ examination cost and what does the fee include?

The fees for the ‘Masters’ Examination are £168 per day. This cost will include Grand Master Chan Kun Wah’s fee for the revision day and preparing, testing and marking the ‘Masters’ Examination. The fee will include the costs of hiring the examination room with refreshments on written examination days. The fee will also include the costs of hiring transportation to and from the consultation property or the external examination sites.

What costs will you need to cover separately?

You will need to pay for your accommodation and transportation to the examination venue as well as any refreshments or meals excluding examination requirements.

Who is preparing, testing and marking the Examination?

Grand Master Chan Kun Wah is solely responsible for preparing, testing and marking the ‘Masters’ Examination. The Imperial Feng Shui ‘Masters’ qualification can only be done through Grand Master Chan Kun Wah of the Imperial School of Feng Shui and Chinese Horoscopes.

What is the format of the ‘Masters’ examination?

Below is a brief overview of each category’s requirements:

The student will be presented with an examination paper prepared by Grand Master Chan. A variety of tasks will have to be demonstrated. Some of these will include selecting a specific date for a variety of different occasions such as a wedding day or a date to open a new business.

The student will need to demonstrate how to sense the chi in an environment. It is necessary to show how to locate a pulse, a dragon’s lair and a site to bury a foundation / ancestry. The student needs to find a site to build a house and demonstrate the reasons for the depth of the foundations. At the examination Grand Master Chan will need to see that the student can show yin and yang dragons / mountains, types of soil and trees as well as yin and yang water.

This practical examination will involve doing two consultations, one business and one residential consultation. The objective is to ‘find’ and ‘fix’ the problem with the property. Grand Master Chan will be interested mainly in external feng shui solutions and related calculations to maximise the property’s potential. Each student will be required write a report for each consultation, detailing the solutions for the property to include their calculations.

The student must be able to look at aspects of form in a town or city. Main road, town halls and other major buildings need to be assessed. The student must be able to identify both beneficial and damaging forms. As the ‘chi follows the form’ the student must show an understanding of how combined forms affect an environment and its inhabitants.

This written examination will involve answering a series of prepared questions in a classroom examination environment that have been set by Grand Master Chan. The topics that will be tested will include the flying hexagram, the tin lon ou yu, Yuen Hom date selection, six children pinching the chi, seven children pinching the chi, parents looking after children, children looking after parents, 48 yin and 48 yang children.

How long will it take Grand Master Chan to mark the ‘Masters’ Examination papers?

Grand Master Chan is quick and conscientious and aims to have the papers marked within a few weeks of the examination. However, that will depend on the number of students that sit the examination, as more students take more time.

Where and when will the ‘Masters’ Ceremony take place for successful students?

The ‘Masters’ Ceremony will be held during the yearly AGM for the Chue Foundation.

What are the implications of becoming a ‘Master’ in Imperial Feng Shui?

If students pass their exams to become full ‘Masters’ then Master Chan will become ‘Grand Master Chan Kun Wah’. One of these new ‘Masters’ will be selected by Grand Master Chan to be his successor and continue the lineage.

How do I prepare for the  ‘Masters’ Examination?

Grand Master Chan realises that the prospect of taking such an important examination is daunting. Consequently, he is willing to train his advanced students by offering ‘Preparation Guidelines for ‘Masters’ Examination’ courses from 2005. These courses will help each student to prepare to meet the challenges in each examination category. These courses are not compulsory. They will be available to assist students if they wish them.
